Ballet for Mental Health

There is no question that ballet is good for you. I mean, there is a reason I call it Ballet Body by Jasmin. It leans and tones the muscles. It builds core strength, flexibility, coordination, and greater ease of movement -- benefits that we carry over into our everyday lives.
However, it is important to note that there are some mental health benefits of ballet too! Here are a few:

1. Boosts Confidence

As I like to reiterate to my current and prospective students, anyone can do ballet. Once you realize that, you can achieve the posture and foot movements that used to intimidate you. Conquering those once daunting moves will give you confidence that will soon transfer over into everyday life.

2. Strengthens Cognitive Function

New physical activity challenges your brain as you learn new movements that your mind and body aren’t use to. Ballet does exactly that. The challenge helps improve your mental strength and adaptation.

*A meta-analysis found that ballet and other dance interventions were useful measures to limit age-related mental impairment such as dementia.

3. Relieves Stress

Physical exercise is known to relieve stress. While Ballet Body by Jasmin challenges you, it remains a safe and welcoming environment. You will meet friends, engage in something new and dance away your worries!

4. Builds Social Connections

This is a big one! They say it is always best to work out with a buddy. At Ballet Body by Jasmin, you have dancemates you can learn and grow with. They relate to and have similar goals as you.

*Building strong relationships lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease and illness associate with it.

So, in conclusion, ballet is amazing for your physical and mental health. :) Be sure to check out a class soon!
