You Can Do It! How to Stay Positive During Class
Ballet, just like any other workout, takes practice and patience. So many people, myself included, are too hard on themselves when they don’t magically become a pro overnight. I am here to tell you: that is perfectly normal. Here are some ways you can stay positive during my class.
What are your short and long term goals? Write them down. This will give you a clear picture of what you are working towards. It is more official than just showing up to class without asking yourself what you hope to gain from the journey.
Patience is key. Learning something new is going to take time. Even pro athletes had to go through years and years of training to get where they are today. So loosen up and try to let go of some of that pressure!
Bring a friend along with you to class. Having someone go through this journey with you provides a support system and motivational pick-me-up when you feel worn down or overwhelmed.
It’s ok to reward yourself for even small triumphs! Congratulate yourself for not skipping class with a massage or small gift. This will allow you to give credit where credit is due and recognize your progress. You deserve it!
Try to stay positive. Know that you are doing an amazing thing for yourself every time you get to class. Not only are you physically providing for your body, but you are also taking steps to build confidence and get pushed out of your comfort zone by trying something new. That type of action only makes you stronger!
I hope these steps will allow you to see the bigger picture when it comes to attending my class. A minor mess up or setback does not matter and will not affect your progress in any way. You are a star simply for your effort. So have fun and enjoy this new journey!
